The long-awaited Stardew Valley 1.6 update is finally here, and with it comes a lengthy list of exciting new features for us farmers to explore. While solo developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone initially intended for the indie gem’s 1.6 patch to be quite small, the finished update brings everything from a new farm type to crafting recipes and seasonal festivals. Whether you most look forward to building relationships with townsfolk or to leading a quiet life and tending to your crops in Stardew Valley, 1.6 likely has something fun in store for you.
The Meadowlands Farm brings stunning turquoise pastures fit for devoted animal lovers, with its tasty blue grass fields and the free chickens it offers you to start. Townsfolk stans and romance aficionados, a new honeymoon period is here with update 1.6 to ensure a happy start to every young marriage. If you’re less interested in love and more dedicated to your hard farm work and subsequent produce, everything is far more organized now in-game with an improved ingredient-based color-coding system for products like jellies, juices, pickles, and wines.
There are two new “mini” festivals to enjoy, as well as one festival that ConcernedApe describes as “major,” likely akin to the beloved Stardew Valley Fair and Spirit’s Eve. Thanks to the patch, you can enjoy all of these events with seven of your friends as multiplayer now supports up to eight people on one farm. Along with the farm map, the festivals, and everything in between, 1.6 also delivers skill tree expansions and new end-game content. Yes, JojaCorporation-route fiends, there are new later-game options for those who opt to follow Morris.
Update 1.6 sees Stardew Valley come to life with over a hundred new lines of dialogue, too, and special seasonal outfits for the townsfolk. ConcernedApe has also brought many combat improvements and general changes to the game, including but not limited to new quest rewards, secrets, and perhaps most importantly, consumable mayonnaise. Bottoms up!
